Guest Additions fail to build on OL7 and F26, running under Win7 host and Mac

Reported by: oraclebase Owned by:
Component: guest additions Version: VirtualBox 5.2.0
Keywords: guest addition Cc: tim@…
Guest type: Linux Host type: Mac OS X

Description

I upgraded from 5.1.30 to 5.2.0. Installation went fine. OL7.4 VM ran fine with old Guest Additions. When I upgrade latest GA it fails. Combinations tried are:

Host: macOS Sierra Guest: OL7.4 Host: Win7 Guest: OL7.4 Host: Win7 Guest: Fedora 26

In all cases OS was up to date and rebooted before new GA were installed. In all cases older GA was fine running on new version prior to install.

The /var/log/vboxadd-setup.log file ends with this.

/tmp/vbox.0/hgsmi_base.c: In function ‘hgsmi_send_caps_info’: /tmp/vbox.0/hgsmi_base.c:99:2: error: implicit declaration of function ‘AssertRC’ [-Werror=implicit-function-declaration]

Tried switching from UEK4 to the RH Compatibility Kernel.

root@ol7-122 ~]# uname -r 3.10.0-693.2.2.el7.x86_64 [root@ol7-122 ~]#

Same result.

It is a duplicate of #17163. The search functionality must be broken, there's no other logical explanation...
